Dinner and a movie is fine. But if you want a date you'll both still be talking about next month, Toronto has better options — and most of them cost less than a fancy dinner. Here are ten date ideas we'd actually recommend, starting with the one we're (admittedly) biased about.
1. Puppy yoga for two
Picture this: a relaxing, instructor-led yoga flow, and then a litter of puppies climbing over your mats. At our Toronto studio at 575 Yonge St (2nd Floor), every class blends a gentle 40-minute flow with 20 minutes of dedicated puppy time — and the puppies are in the room for the entire session, free to wander between mats, play, or nap. Mats are provided and sanitized, so neither of you has to carry anything on the subway. Yoga is optional; cuddles count. It's rated 4.9★ across 521+ Google reviews, and it photographs extremely well.

2. Ferry to the Toronto Islands
Pack a picnic, hop the ferry from Jack Layton Terminal, and spend an afternoon cycling or wandering Ward's Island. The skyline view on the ride back at golden hour is the cheapest romantic backdrop in the city.
3. St. Lawrence Market food crawl
Make a game of it: each of you picks three stalls, you share everything. Peameal bacon sandwich is mandatory — it's practically a bylaw.
4. Get lost in Kensington Market
Vintage shops, record stores, tiny cafés and some of the best people-watching in Toronto. No itinerary, no reservations — just wander.
5. A museum date at the AGO or ROM
Pick a wing, take it slow, and argue lovingly about which piece you'd hang in your apartment. Rainy-day proof.
6. Sunset at the Harbourfront
Walk the boardwalk west toward Trillium Park as the sun drops behind the lake. Grab a hot chocolate or gelato depending on the season.
7. Distillery District stroll
Cobblestones, galleries, and chocolate shops in a Victorian industrial setting. Especially good in December when the lights go up.
8. High Park in any season
Cherry blossoms in spring, trails in summer, colours in fall. Rent nothing, spend nothing, walk everything.
9. A comedy club night
Nothing bonds two people like laughing at the same terrible heckler. Toronto's comedy scene runs shows practically every night of the week.
10. Graffiti Alley and Queen West
Start in Graffiti Alley with your camera out, then work your way along Queen West's shops and cafés. Free, colourful, and never the same twice.
Can't decide? Give the decision as a gift
A Therapy Puppy Studio gift card turns "we should do something fun" into an actual plan — and it's a safe bet for anniversaries and birthdays too.
Planning a bigger celebration? We also host bachelorette parties and private birthday parties with the puppies at our Toronto, Vaughan and Ajax studios.
