If you've just typed "puppy yoga near me," you'll find more options in the GTA than you might expect — and they are not all run the same way. The puppies' welfare, the class structure, and even basic hygiene vary a lot between operators. Here are seven things worth checking before you book with anyone, including us.
1. Where do the puppies come from?
This is the single most important question. A responsible studio can tell you exactly where its puppies are raised and by whom. Ours come from trusted breeder partners who raise them in safe, attentive environments with appropriate veterinary care — you can read the full breakdown on our standards page and in our post on whether puppy yoga is ethical. If an operator can't (or won't) answer this question, that tells you everything.
2. What's the puppy-to-attendee ratio?
Too few puppies for a big room means crowding and grabby competition — stressful for the animals and disappointing for you. We maintain a minimum ratio of one puppy for every two attendees, so there's always a puppy nearby without anyone hovering.
3. Are the puppies free to opt out?
Puppies are babies: they play hard and then they crash. A well-run class lets them wander, play, or nap as they choose rather than being passed hand-to-hand on demand. In our classes the puppies are in the room for the entire session and always free to step away and rest.
4. How is the class actually structured?
Ask what you're getting for the ticket. Our sessions pair a gentle instructor-led yoga flow (40 minutes in Toronto and Ajax, 35 in Vaughan) with 20 minutes of dedicated puppy time — and because the puppies are present throughout, the "yoga" half is usually well-interrupted in the best way. Yoga is optional; nobody checks your form.
5. What about mats and hygiene?
Puppies plus dozens of strangers' personal mats is not a combination you want. We provide sanitized mats for every attendee — personal mats aren't allowed, which protects both the puppies and you.
6. What do the reviews actually say?
Skip the star count for a second and read how operators respond to problems, and whether reviewers mention the puppies seeming happy and rested. We're rated 4.9★ across 521+ Google reviews and we're proud of what's written in them.
7. Is it actually near you?
"Near me" should mean near you. We run three studios across the GTA, each with its own schedule and puppies:
- Toronto — 575 Yonge St, 2nd Floor (mini dachshunds guaranteed at every class)
- Vaughan — 4000 Steeles Ave W, Unit 13 (rotating breeds like bulldogs, cavapoos and dachshunds)
- Ajax — 190 Station St, Unit 3 (rotating breeds, serving Durham Region)
The quick checklist
Before you book anywhere, ask: Where are the puppies from? What's the ratio? Can they rest when they want? What's included in the session? Are mats provided and cleaned? If you get clear answers to all five, you've found a good studio — whoever it is.
